MCPA Fall 2011 - Coffee Talk I
Myth or Reality? Assessment Doesn't Have to be Painful! Assessing student development programs is impossible...We don't have the resources in our office to do assessment. ..It's just too hard to do assessment... We don't have a clue where to begin with assessment! Do you hear yourself or your colleagues saying things like this when the subject of assessment comes up? These statements are MYTHS. Join us as we challenge the myth that assessment is too hard and time consuming. We will help participants see why assessment is critical to doing their work most effectively. We will share some strategies anyone can use and explore resources for assessing the effectiveness of student affairs programs and services * This will be a hands on workshop * The presenters will demonstrate that assessment can be done by anyone * Participants will gain useful tips doing regular assessment * Participants will gain practical experience in how to develop and measure learning outcomes * It will be FUN! (We promise!) Participants should bring a real life assessment problem/situation with them to the workshop and together we will develop a plan of attack to address the challenge. Presented by Beth Moriarty, Director of Residence Life at Bridgewater State University & Catherine Holbrook, Associate Vice President of Student Affairs at Bridgewater State University When: Friday, September 23rd, 2011 Time: 10:00 am-11:30am Check - In & Refreshments begin at 9:30 am Cost: Free to MCPA members, $5.00 for non members.
