Become a Member of the MCPA Executive Board!

The Massachusetts College Personnel Association (MCPA) invites you to participate in the upcoming 2010-11 election process. Information about anticipated vacancies on the Executive Board is listed below. In order to run for office you must be an active member of MCPA. If you are not currently a member of MCPA, you can complete a membership application at www.mymcpa.net.

Timeline:

January 27 – February 5: Nominations submitted

February 8: Nominees contacted

February 12: Candidate statements due

Feb. 15 – 26:  Ballot posted for membership review

March 1 – 12:  Voting takes place

March 15: Candidates contacted

March 22: Newly Elected Officers Announced


Nomination Process:

If you are interested in running for office or would like to nominate someone to run for office please read the position descriptions below and complete the NOMINATION FORM

Deadline for nominations is Friday, Feb. 5, 2010.

If you have question, please contact Mary Wegmann, mary_wegmann@emerson.edu. The week of February 8th, Mary will contact all nominees to further discuss the position with them and confirm their acceptance of the nomination.

Open Position Listing:

President-Elect:

Serves as acting President in the President’s absence. Assists the President in organizing and evaluating MCPA activities, coordinating activities with other organizations, communicates with ACPA and coordinates the awards process. This position requires a three year commitment; one as president-elect, one as president and one as past president. In the role as president-elect and president he/she will attend the ACPA Summer Leadership meeting and the State President’s meetings during the ACPA national convention.

Member-at-Large (2 positions):

The member-at Large position serves as chair or member of conference committees, chairs standing and ad hoc committees within MCPA, and manages other projects upon request of the President. There are a total of 4 Member-at-Large positions on the MCPA executive board.





Appointed Position(s):

Marketing Coordinator (1 position - appointed)
 
The marketing coordinator position is an appointed position by the President of MCPA. The marketing coordinator works closely with program planners, the website coordinator and the board in addressing the marketing  needs of the organization. This position develops and designs graphics and logos for MCPA program and events  and  researches, develops and recommend the purchase and printing of  novelty items and other memorabilia that promote the organization at various programs, keeping the image and branding of the organization consistent.
 
Skills: Experience with designing and developing graphics for print and electronic publications. Attention to detail and the ability to work under tight deadlines.


Graduate Student Liaison (2 positions):

This appointed position has been designed to assist MCPA in outreach to graduate school programs and students. This person will also represent MCPA on the planning committee for a conference that prepares graduate students for their first professional job search and networking strategies. There are 2 Graduate Student Liaison positions on the MCPA board. This position is a non-voting position and requires a two year commitment.

Voting/Election Process:

The MCPA 2010-11 election will takes place online from March 1 – March 12, 2010. Current members of MCPA  are the only individuals who can vote. An invitation to vote will be sent to your email address on record which will direct you to our voting ballot form. The e-mail will contain a special password that you will need in order to access the ballot. If you do not receive an email invitation and you are current member, please contact our membership coordinator Sara Jacques
